Pro-Star Martial Arts FAQ
1. What is Pro-Star Martial Arts?
a. Pro-Star Martial Arts will be a White to Black Belt based curriculum founded by John Graden and designed by him along with co-owner Joe Brignoli.
b. The real value of Pro-Star will be in the class-by-class lesson plans that will available via a members only web site. Each section of every class will be taught and demonstrated by Mr. Graden, Mr. Brignoli and their staff on streaming video.
c. Pro-Star is a complete curriculum of stand-up, takedown and grappling skills. It can be implemented as a stand-alone currciulum or easily integrated into your current offerings, giving traditional schools cutting edge MMA skills to augment their classes.
2. How do I transition existing students so they maintain rank and don’t lose time in rank for the next belt?
While this will vary school to school and system to system, we suggest you look at the Pro-Star Martial Arts ranking system for year one. You then match up the Pro-Star ranks with your students' ranks.
For instance, if you have an XYZ color student who has been training for six months, that would equate to a Pro-Star High Orange or Green belt. So, rather than having to go through six two-month semesters, this student might only do three semesters and then graduate into the Intermediate Year Two Pro-Star Program.
3. Is there a class I have to take to be ready to teach?
Yes. We will have regional workshops throughout the year to keep owners up to speed with Pro-Star techniques.
4. Marketing campaigns (any national campaigns)?
Our only national effort will be the web site. and related e-marketing. We will encourage local schools to pool their marketing efforts. National marketing efforts are difficult, expensive and tend to have poor results. North America is huge. While it's nice to imagine a Pro-Star commercial airing nationwide, it's simply not realistic.
5. Should I shut down and prepare, then have a student meeting or something?
No need to. Start introducing the techniques to your students in class and build support and excitement. Create enthusiasm for these combinations before making changes to requirements. We will help you transition. In our experience, students really enjoy the combinations and see the Instant Value they bring to the class.
6. Do I need to leave my current organization?
That's entirely up to you. Pro-Star doesn't require you to be exclusive to Pro-Star. Mr. Graden has always had the philosophy that the freedom to learn and grow shouldn't be restricted by politics.
7. Do I need to drop my current curriculum to do Pro-Star?
No.You may and most of you will, but you may want to simply insert various elements of Pro-Star into your current program until you get comfortable with the program. We're confident most schools will transition over but we're happy to let them do it on their time.
8. Will Pro-Star be providing things like certificates etc. for ranks?
Yes, for students, as well as the possiblity of advancement for black belts
